This role is open to individuals who are fully or nearly qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA and who have a strong interest in financial management and business performance. If nearly qualified we will only be considering candidates who are aiming to finish their qualification and become fully qualified. As an Accountant, you will play a central role in ensuring accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts, management accounts analysis, and reporting across different areas of the business. As a commercially aware Accountant, you have oversight of proposals and costing of projects, and how these align with the strategic aims of the business. Key responsibilities include supporting tax and regulatory compliance, monitoring changes that impact the business, and managing initiatives such as R&D tax credits and government schemes. You will also contribute to the monthly management accounts process, forecast analysis, budget planning, capital expenditure projects, and continuous improvement of finance processes and controls. Beyond the technical aspects, this role provides the opportunity to act as a mentor to apprentice accountants, be mentored by senior finance professionals, support the year-end audit process, and collaborate closely with a team that brings diverse and complementary finance skills. We are looking for someone who will not only strengthen the delivery of finance but also enhance the team’s impact across the wider business. Responsibilities Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts. Analyse and report on the monthly P&L and other financial reports. Provide financial reporting across different areas of the business. Translate financial performance into meaningful insights, KPIs, and targets. Support budget planning and forecasting processes. Monitor and support compliance with tax requirements and regulatory changes. Manage initiatives such as R&D tax credits and government schemes. Play a key role in capital expenditure projects. Support the year-end audit process. Identify and implement continuous improvements across finance processes and controls. Informally mentor and support apprentice accountants. Collaborate with the wider finance team to strengthen its impact across the business. Personal Qualities Commercially aware – able to see the bigger picture and link finance and commercial processes. Adaptable and resilient – flexible in responding to business needs, deadlines, and regulatory changes. Integrity and accountability – committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and ethical practice. Problem-solver – solutions-focused and able to drive process improvements. Organised and efficient – capable of managing multiple priorities and delivering results on time. Experience Strong experience in accounting platforms such as Xero. 3+ years experience in a finance role. A degree or equivalent experience in business or accounting. Qualified or nearly qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA. Experience in VAT or other tax returns (desirable). Experience in R&D, Innovate UK and other government funded schemes or initiatives (desirable). Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets, with experience using other Microsoft office softwares. Successful candidates will need to pass a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check as part of the onboarding process.
