Planning and Enforcement OfficerAn opportunity has arisen to join our Planning and Enforcement Team as a Planning and Enforcement Officer. The role requires a positive attitude to resolve enforcement issues, drawing on knowledge of the planning system to offer professional planning advice and ensure all parties feel treated fairly. The officer will also provide advice and guidance to staff, elected members and other key stakeholders.We are looking to appoint a Town Planner with a Degree or Diploma in Town and Country Planning (or equivalent) recognised by and giving full eligibility for membership of the RTPI, to help manage development in a district with exciting levels of growth planned within a unique built and natural environment.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure development is carried out in accordance with planning permissions and relevant planning policy and legislation.Resolve enforcement issues by negotiation where possible, and support enforcement notices and prosecution when unavoidable.Provide advice and guidance to staff, elected members and other key stakeholders.Asses and determine a wide variety of retrospective planning, advertisement, listed building, prior approval and other application types through the district, and present applications to the Development Management Committee.QualificationsDegree or Diploma in Town and Country Planning (or equivalent).Knowledge of planning policy and legal framework underpinning planning and enforcement.Experience in the determination of applications is essential; less experienced candidates are encouraged.Remuneration and Working ConditionsCompetitive salary, flexible working conditions and a benefits package aimed at boosting and maintaining health, wellbeing and general quality of life.Commitment to Equality, Diversity and InclusionWe aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join us.
