Experienced Leakage Technician – Wessex Water RPS is seeking Experienced Leakage Technicians to join our Water Operations Division representing Wessex Water. Roles are available in Yeovil and Trowbridge. Our team of Leakage Engineers is at the heart of strategic priorities – delivering great work for clients by providing excellent customer service and executing complex operational tasks. This position offers an opportunity to progress within RPS. About the Team The RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry‑leading services to the UK Water Industry. Employees support Water Networks, Drainage, Surveying, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources and Efficiency. The team analyses complex data and provides pragmatic solutions, reducing water leakage and preventing flooding and pollution in local communities. We assess, diagnose, and determine the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage, fully supporting the delivery of regulatory targets and pinpointing leakage with accuracy that delivers a great service for clients. About You As a key member of the AS&I business, you will work flexibly, including weekends, evenings and overtime if required, and be willing to travel to different locations. You should enjoy working outdoors, rain or shine. Your Responsibilities Detect and resolve both proactive and reactive leaks using a combination of methods. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained. Achieve KPI targets and deliver leakage detection/reduction within DMA’s. Attend excavations requested by Refurbishment & Maintenance to assist leak location. Train and mentor assistant Leakage Technicians. Handle general admin tasks such as electronic timesheet submission, weekly vehicle checks and defect reporting. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and the client. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Enjoy working outdoors; most work is conducted outside (rain or shine). Basic maths and English proficiency. Basic IT skills. Willing to work nights, weekends and overtime as required. Good hearing. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications Full UK driving licence. National Water & Hygiene. Unit 2 NRSWA. Health and Safety This role may involve: Moving heavy items including inspection chamber covers. Working in all weather conditions (including night work). Working in confined spaces and on highways. Mandatory drug and alcohol tests and DBS check. What’s in it for you?
