EC&I Technician

Astute's Power Team is seeking an EC&I Technician to join a brand new Energy from Waste Power Station located in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The facility is soon to enter the commissioning phase and will provide a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 500,000 tonnes of residual waste per year, generating up to 49.9 megawatts of low‑carbon energy – enough to power more than 75,000 homes. Responsibilities and Duties Pre‑planned and reactive maintenance of all electrical, controls and instrumentation assets across the power station. Fault finding and maintenance of motors, drives, single‑phase and three‑phase equipment, switchgear, high/low‑voltage plant and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level & flow). Calibrating instrumentation. Conducting continuous improvement activities, plant modifications and design work. Supervising third‑party contractors. Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices. Assisting in plant developments and projects. Maintaining accurate maintenance records in the site CMMS. Assisting in outage planning, scheduling and coordination. Ensuring availability of plant spares. Professional Qualifications Recognised Electrical / C&I apprenticeship in a heavy process industry (preferred). Relevant technical qualification such as an NVQ / ONC / HNC in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering or a similar discipline. IOSH or NEBOSH certification (advantageous). Personal Skills and Experience At least 5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature, etc.) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC). Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, etc.; Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered. Experience with high‑voltage equipment such as transformers and switchgear (advantageous). Salary and Benefits Excellent salary and package starting at £48,000 per year. Overtime opportunities.
