Part of a major international group, this organisation is continuing to invest millions in new manufacturing facility and CapEx to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. Due to continued expansion a Tooling Project Engineer is urgently sought to support current production and future new product introduction. Tooling Engineer Location: Shropshire (commutable from Telford, Shrewsbury, North Birmingham, Kidderminster, Bridgnorth, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Stafford areas) Salary: £50000 + benefits The role As a Tooling Project Engineer you will be responsible for managing the design of new tooling through optimisation, build and buy‑off process to successful introduction into production. You will be involved in all aspects of tooling from initial product design, instrumental in tool optimisation design, validation and simulation process through to tooling vendor project management and tooling buy‑off. Review and validate designs for all to include high pressure dies casting tools, trim / clip tools, spray heads and robot end effectors and jigs & fixtures against specifications & RFQ Project management of tooling vendors / suppliers this may involve overseas travelling Produce 2D CAD product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities. Part Feasibility reviews and apply design for manufacture (DFM) principals to evaluate product designs and produce summary reports. Complete understanding of component tolerances, dimensional capability statistics and GD&T. Experience You will already have significant experience of Tooling working as either a Tooling Engineer or Tool Design Engineer incorporating design and project management gained with some of the following experience: Proficient using 2D / 3D CAD - interrogate & optimise designs Expert knowledge of tooling - die casting or stamping or plastic injection moulding Knowledge of robot end effectors / jig & fixtures / runner & cooling design would be beneficial MAGMASOFT simulation software and analysis (desirable) Project management, supplier vendor management and effective communication skills in order to and build relationships with customers The opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tooling Engineer to be part of a well invested manufacturing venture with a growing order book and future product launch.
