Maintenance Operative (Electrical) Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom Salary: Up to £38,311 per annum Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week The Perse School Cambridge is one of the country’s leading independent co‑educational day schools for children aged 3‑18. We aim to be a leading employer of choice and offer competitive salary and benefits along with growth opportunities. Role Overview This post supports the smooth running of the Estates department. The post holder will undertake electrical compliance checks, day‑to‑day maintenance and small project tasks. Key Responsibilities Undertake electrical repairs, replacements and installations under the correct certification. Perform carpentry, brickwork, roofing, flooring, plumbing and decorating to a maintenance level, including tasks such as shelving, fencing, noticeboard installation, carpet tile laying, toilet/shower repair, gutter cleaning, painting, slab/tarmac repairs and roof patch repairs. Use the facility management software Halo to record and report tasks. Assist with out‑of‑hours contractors, react to adverse weather, collaborate with other site teams, support security or safety concerns and other site maintenance issues. Undertake regular training and development to support safe professional practice and continual performance improvement. Work within health and safety guidelines as per risk assessments and policies. Perform other duties as required by the Director of Estates or line management. Skills and Qualifications Full UK driving licence NVQ level 2 or above in relevant trades Electrical qualification Experience in construction‑related environments Strong teamwork skills Self‑motivated with initiative Flexible and able to meet changing priorities Health and Safety qualifications (desirable) Access‑related qualifications e.g. IPAF, PASMA or safe use of ladders (desirable) Experience in educational settings (desirable) Benefits 30 days paid holiday entitlement plus bank holidays per annum, with 5 days to be taken at Christmas; holidays usually not taken during term time.
