Join the fast‑paced team at Protein Works as a Hygiene Operative. You will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and contributing to a safe working environment. Responsibilities Perform deep cleaning of food production equipment, machinery, and work areas to meet hygiene and safety standards. Manual cleaning of large/heavy equipment, including disassembly and reassembly where required. Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and sanitising agents, ensuring safe and correct usage. Follow cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., BRC, HACCP). Conduct swabbing and hygiene verification checks as required. Work effectively with production, engineering and quality assurance teams to minimise contamination risks. Maintain accurate cleaning records and report any issues to management. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with waste disposal and ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy. Carry out any other reasonable requests to meet the needs of the business. Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a hygiene or cleaning role within food manufacturing or a similar environment (preferred). Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene procedures (training will be provided). Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting. Have a flexible, positive approach to working. Be highly motivated, determined and an enthusiastic individual. Ability to work well as part of a team. Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
