Paralegal - Property Recoveries Department: CSG - Property (Insurance / Damage / Recoveries / Subsidence) Employment Type: Permanent Location: Glasgow Description CSG @ DAC Beachcroft are looking for multiple Paralegals to join us in our Property Recoveries team (property damage claims).This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a varied caseload of both Pursuer and Defender work in the Sheriff Court (simple procedure and ordinary cause). As a Paralegal in our Property Recoveries team, you will be based in our Glasgow office and expected to attend the office 5 days per week for the first 6 months. There are regular social and responsible business events organised for all colleagues to attend, not to mention the opportunity to get involved in our inclusion and diversity networks. What you will do? With an appropriate level of supervision, you will be supporting the team with a varied property recoveries case load. Undertaking predominantly property insurance litigation, with task based work on simple procedure and ordinary cause claims.Such as: Task based activities on claims for solicitors, carrying out preliminary investigations and evidence gathering. Drafting letters and reports to clients. Negotiating damages and legal expenses with third party loss adjusters, insurers and solicitors. Research tasks and analysis of documents in order to provide advice to other team members or direct to clients. Enforcement of judgements against third parties. Working on cases which are predominantly Pursuer in nature, but which may include managing a range of Defender claims. Who you are We are happy to hear from graduates or those with customer service/retail experience who are team players and have the passion for learning. We'd also like to hear from Paralegals who may already have experience working in a legal environment. You will have; Preferably have a minimum of a degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) or Paralegal/CILEX qualification. Be highly organised and a confident communicator with an outstanding eye for detail. Be interested in and preferably have a basic understanding of general contract and delict. Be IT literate, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous knowledge or experience of a case management system would be an advantage but not essential. Be team orientated, with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team. Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to claim settlements.
