Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace sector, is seeking a motivated Trainee Shot Peen Operative to join their aircraft landing gear Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in the aviation MRO industry, with a focus on stringent quality, health, and safety standards within a fast‑paced production environment. Key Responsibilities: Undergo comprehensive training in the principles of shot peening and grit blasting as well as the operation of relevant equipment Assist experienced operatives in the setup and operation of shot peening machines Learn to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine shot peening requirements Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and deadlines Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities Maintain a clean workspace, including filter systems and booths Optimise production flow, supplying parts to the plating shop and prioritising N.D.T. parts Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book Adhere to quality, health safety, and environmental standards Job Requirements: Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent Fluency in written and spoken English Good knowledge of health and safety requirements Previous experience in an engineering environment Experience in shot peening or grit blasting is desirable Willingness to follow directions and learn from experienced operatives Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time Commitment to workplace safety Must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted Job Description: Involves contact with greases and oils Requires training in the use of overhead cranes Understanding of manual handling is necessary Involves the use of hand and power tools, ovens, and complex machinery Maintain a clean workspace to 5S standards If you are a motivated individual eager to develop new hands‑on engineering skills in the aerospace industry, we would love to hear from you.
