The post is based within the internationally recognised centre for vascular surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Unit was formed by the merger of the two regional units based at St Mary's and Charing Cross Hospitals and has combined their high-profile international reputations in areas such as open and complex endovascular treatment, leading multi-centre clinical trials and repairing thoracoabdominal aneurysms using techniques such as left heart bypass and full motor and sensory spinal monitoring. The service also supports the Major Trauma Centre as well as being a regional out of hours tertiary referral centre. The unit has and is shaping current and future clinical practice including the pioneering use of endo-robotic surgery for aortic, carotid and peripheral vascular interventions, which is a UK first. The Unit has performed the largest number of robot-assisted interventions worldwide and is the primary centre for education, training and adoption of this technology.Main duties of the jobThe appointee will support a busy and demanding service to fulfil its key activities:Daily open and endovascular arterial operating listsFour full day venous lists per week across the Imperial NetworkDaily outpatient clinics at St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith HospitalsFurther outpatient clinics at Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex HospitalsAccess to daily Angio lists at St Mary'sWeekly MDT and team training activitiesA 1:10 Consultant of the Week (CoW) modelAbout usAt Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. The postholder will need to work alongside their fellow consultants, doctors in training, and the nursing and managerial staff all of whom will support the postholder throughout their time in the role.The postholder will also need to develop close relationships with anaesthetists, Interventional Radiology, ITU staff, Cardiology and Cardiac surgery, Renal physicians, Neurologists and Neurosurgeons, Nursing, Professional and Technical Staff.Please see the full JD attached for more information.Person SpecificationQualificationsOn GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to PracticeOn GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registrationAppropriate Royal College MembershipKnowledge/SkillsPost CCT in Vascular Surgery or equivalent recognised and appropriate certificationCompetent in standard open surgical techniquesCompetent in aortic endovascular and superficial endovenous techniquesIT Skills and computer literacyLeadership/ Management SkillSAble to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authorityHave proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.Knowledge of finance/budgetsManagement of staffTeaching & TrainingExperience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staffAuditUnderstanding of principles of clinical auditAcademic achievementsEvidence of research activity within the last 5 years including research project involvement, publication and presentation at National/International meetingsLanguageable to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirementsDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.Depending on experience£109,725 to £145,478 per annum WTE #J-18808-Ljbffr
