Successful candidates will be supported to undertake the independent prescribing qualification as soon as possible, alongside our foundation pharmacist framework for development. This post is rotational, with an expectation to work at all trust sites. There is a commitment to weekend working and on‑call as part of our clinical teams. The Trust’s Specialist Emergency Care Hospital is supported by a 7‑day clinical pharmacy service. You will be required to work at a range of sites within the Trust and in primary/community care settings. As a flexible employer we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work part‑time or job share. We welcome applications from trainee pharmacists due to qualify in August 2026, or from recently qualified pharmacists. We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received. Responsibilities Provide professional and clinical input as a member of a team of pharmacy staff involved in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services, undertaking a wide variety of duties. Contribute to the continuous improvement of medicines use by inputting to clinical governance and risk reduction activities. Participate in clinical audit and practice development activities. Complete continuous professional development aligned with the RPS Foundation Pharmacist Pathway and post‑qualification training as required. Ensure compliance with medicines policy within allocated wards at acute sites. Assist in providing advice on pharmaceutical matters and medicines management, encompassing selection, procurement, delivery, prescribing, supply, administration and review of medicines to optimise patient care outcomes. Provide personal clinical and professional contribution to specific wards at acute site(s). Assume statutory professional responsibility while working in the dispensary. Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within the trust, engaging, enabling, empowering others, using coaching for quality improvement and facilitating team working across organisational boundaries. Contribute to day‑to‑day operational running of the pharmacy department. Work Locations and Hours Our three major locality hospitals are North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics. In addition, we have the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. You will generally work across our four main clinical sites: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital, Wansbeck General Hospital and Hexham General Hospital, with possible assignments to other trust sites, GP practices, care homes and patients’ homes. Current working hours for the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital are 8:15 am – 16:45 pm. For other sites they are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. These may change in the future based on service needs. On‑call and Weekend Coverage On‑call and weekend cover is allocated on a rotational basis. Assessment Process Please note that there will be clinical scenario discussions as part of the interview process. We will also expect you to share and discuss evidence from your portfolio of practice, such as a trainee pharmacist portfolio, RPS foundation pharmacist portfolio, or a portfolio specific to your current organisation.
