The Role This is an extra workload cover position within the Homes & Neighbourhoods directorate. As a Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer, you will provide frontline housing advice and solutions, working with vulnerable applicants to assess needs, deliver statutory support, and ensure compliance with housing legislation. Key Responsibilities Provide practical housing advice and tangible solutions to homeless applicants, including singles and families. Work empathetically and in a trauma-informed way with vulnerable members of the public. Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act, Homelessness Code of Guidance, Homeless Reduction Act, Protection from Eviction Act, Domestic Abuse Act, and Public Sector Equality Duty. Draft responses, reports, and briefings for senior officers, members, stakeholders, and customers. Deliver sensitive services in pressurised settings, maintaining high standards of empathy and communication. Meet performance and service standards consistently. Develop and maintain partnerships with internal council departments, health partners, and voluntary sector organisations. Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements. Candidate Requirements Experience working with vulnerable members of the public in housing, health, or social care within a diverse inner-city environment. Strong understanding of the complexity of needs presented by homeless applicants. Proven ability to deliver housing advice and solutions in statutory or voluntary sector settings. Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to enhance the council’s reputation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
