Newcastle City Council – Children and Families Directorate Educational Psychology Service – Educational Psychologist (0.5 FTE, Permanent Post) Scale: Points 3 – 8, with up to an additional 3 SPA points for those eligible to apply. About the Role The Newcastle Educational Psychology Service is expanding and seeks to appoint an Educational Psychologist to a 0.5 FTE permanent position, commencing as soon as possible. The role will join a positive team comprising the Service Manager, Deputy Manager, 15.3 FTE EPs (including two Specialist Senior EPs), three doctoral trainee EPs and an Assistant EP. The team is highly valued by schools and settings. All Educational Psychologists undertake a range of preventative and early intervention work, statutory duties and core (non‑statutory/non‑traded) work that focuses on a range of cross‑LA and school priorities. The service offers opportunities to develop specialisms and areas of interest. The EPS is well positioned within the Local Authority, approved for strategic work across the Education Division and wider Children and Families Directorate, maintaining close working relationships with other SEN services and links with Newcastle University doctoral training. Responsibilities Deliver preventative and early intervention work Carry out statutory duties, including assessments and consultations Provide core non‑statutory, non‑traded services across the locality and schools Develop and extend the service’s range of activities and specialisms Collaborate with local authority teams and school colleagues to support children, young people and vulnerable adults Qualifications and Experience Fully qualified Educational Psychologist (qualified within the UK) Doctoral trainee Educational Psychologist in Year 2 or Year 3 of training is eligible Experience in preventative and early intervention work is desirable Working Arrangements Flexible working arrangements are available, including term‑time‑only work.
