OverviewAs Government Relations Team Manager, you will have a pivotal role in the centre of the organisation, leading a dynamic and exciting team who play a key role in helping to protect and maintain the Environment Agency's reputation with Parliament, Government and some key external stakeholders. You will lead the development and management of our relationships across Government departments providing direct advice and guidance to the Chair, Chief Executive, Executive Directors team, senior managers and staff on reputational and political issues.Key ResponsibilitiesBrings together information to respond to parliamentary questions, debates, select committee & ministerial briefingsAdvises on political engagement and provides political intelligenceOverse EA's sponsorship relationship with DefraRequirementsLooking for a self-motivated individual who can manage a busy portfolio and deliver results through others from across the organisation on time and to a high standard. An experienced manager; customer focused, great communication skills, an excellent understanding of Government and Parliamentary processes.Good political judgement and awarenessExperience of gathering and interpreting intelligence and the ability to present this information appropriatelyAbility to work well under pressure and with time constraints, knowing when to refer to colleagues for guidance and supportThe ability to work closely with senior managers and foster a broad network of contacts across the business, building rapport and relationships quicklyExcellent written and verbal skillsAttention to detail and be capable of presenting data and information in a clear, comprehensible styleA good understanding of the Environment Agency's business leadership team so you will work collaboratively with other managers across the departmentDiversity and InclusionThe Environment Agency (EA) is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve.
