EAP and Academic Skills Tutor – GEDU Global Education Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships Location: Leeds (On‑Site) Salary: £51,000 Type of Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Our Vision Changing lives through education. The Role We are seeking full‑time Study Skills Lecturers who will work closely with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level. Responsibilities include improving English language and numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy, basic IT skills, reading, writing and higher‑order research skills. Flexibility for weekday, evening and weekend teaching is required. Responsibilities Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work to develop study skills in the curricula. Deliver and evaluate teaching, identifying areas for improvement to enhance teaching quality, learning and overall student experience in line with GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy. Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills. Conduct tutorial consultations with students, giving constructive comments tailored to each student’s needs and suggesting ways to improve work and working practices. Record details from appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate. Engage with VLE and research resources, facilitating students’ learning through online resources and activities. Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes. Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable). Previous UK HE lecturing experience in a relevant subject area. Successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes. Proven experience providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs. Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project/dissertation support, peer‑assisted learning). High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills. Desirable Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development. DELTA qualification. A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol in a teaching programme during probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or international equivalent).
