Priorities around carbon reduction (net zero), climate resilience, safety and security (zero harm), digitisation, changing customer expectations, and doing more with less (efficiency) are now front and centre.Your RoleAs a Senior/Principal Consultant in our Operations and Safety team, you will work alongside senior experts and collaborate with specialists across WSP, integrating your strategy development skills with technical domains like energy, roads, rail and active travel to offer tailored, high‑impact solutions for our clients. You will lead and contribute to a wide range of strategy development projects for national and local government clients, building a varied and diverse portfolio of experience.A Typical Week Will IncludeLeading teams in project delivery centered in strategy, innovation and transformation, ranging from assessing feasibility, developing business cases and outlining benefits of long‑term visions and strategies for local and national transport operations.Working with our Clients, to provide expert advice in long‑term strategic direction to help them deliver their objectives and optimise benefits.Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across WSP to ensure specialist domain knowledge is captured in advice provided to Clients.Contributing to the growth of the Strategy Development capability to support delivery against its ambitions, helping drive delivery and business sustainability.Sharing knowledge through internal and external thought leadership and supporting mentoring of early career professionals.What We Are Looking ForTechnical capability in the development and delivery of strategic plans, visions and roadmaps for local and/or national bodies.Strong communication skills (e.g. able to translate technical requirements into clear, actionable advice to achieve buy‑in from a wide range of stakeholders).Demonstrable experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis.A proven track record in a consultancy role or can demonstrate the aptitude and skills required to provide excellent consultancy support.A proven track record of working collaboratively with government, research and commercial partners.An analytical and inquisitive mindset with a keen eye for detail.Join our close‑knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
