OverviewWe’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on the job coaching and feedback. You will have a great understanding of how your store is performing and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.Note: If this store has a Post Office Local, duties include day-to-day Post Office operations and you may be required to pass a background check. If checks fail, the offer may be withdrawn.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.Open/close the store and complete duty cover, making sure decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety.Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries.Support the Store Manager to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a welcoming atmosphere.Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well presented; prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers.Make sure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect good practice.Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent reoccurrence.Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping trip.Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns.Know the store well and deliver practical actions to drive improvements.Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.Deliver clear communication to the team and keep them well informed.Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager.Always put the customer first and adjust service to meet individual needs.Resolve customer queries promptly and leave customers satisfied.Manage service and replenishment balance; support the Store Manager in managing absence and return-to-work processes as required.Build meaningful relationships with Area Manager and People Partner; escalate issues when needed and benefit from on-the-spot coaching.Be a recognised Keyholder for the store, attend alarm call-outs to ensure safety and security.Monitor internal communications and ensure timely action and staff awareness.Coordinate colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, reporting any issues to the Store Manager.Ensure appropriate staffing levels and arrange cover for short-term absence/sickness.Deliver post office duties if applicable, including passing required background checks.Qualifications / SkillsCommunication skillsCustomer focusProblem-solvingTeamworkAttention to detailAdaptabilityTechnical skillsTime managementWhat’s in it for youOne Stop is committed to making everyday life easier for our customers.
