Civil Engineering Apprentice (Level 6) – Highways (Manchester) Location: Jacobs Manchester, England, United Kingdom Apply before 5th January 2026 for your application to be considered in the first assessment window. About the Apprenticeship Jacobs offers a structured Early Careers Programme that supports you to gain a Level 6 qualification with the University of Salford. You will receive on‑the‑job training with the latest civil engineering software and exposure to all stages of highway projects, from initial concept through to construction. Your mentor will guide your learning and help you network across the organisation. Responsibilities You will assist and support colleagues in the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports and highway designs as part of your development into a professionally qualified engineer. You will: Participate in on‑the‑job training using industry‑standard software tools. Contribute to the evaluation of design options and draft technical reports. Work across a range of project stages to build experience in site visits, surveys and construction oversight. Key Requirements A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points including grade B in A‑level Mathematics or equivalent. A keen interest in transportation and engineering. Strong communication and team‑working skills. A flexible and proactive self‑starter who is passionate about developing new skills. The ability to adapt and prioritise while juggling work and study commitments. Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real‑world problems. Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements. A well‑rounded person – whether you've worked in a bar, led a sports team or volunteered for a charity, we value interesting stories and experiences.
