Assistant Gymnastics Coach Casual – Leeds City Council Overview Leeds City Council, one of the largest employers in the region, is recruiting qualified Level 1 gymnastics coaches to deliver fun and engaging recreational gymnastics lessons across Leeds. As an assistant gymnastics coach, you will thrive on teaching children to be active and enjoy seeing the students making progress in their physical confidence and overall self‑esteem. It is not about producing elite gymnasts but about enabling children to believe in their own capabilities and feel proud of their achievements. Key Details Salary: £28,598 – £31,022 pro rata Hours: Various Contract: Casual Location: Various leisure centres across Leeds How to Apply: Complete the online application form About the Role Responsibilities Deliver structured gymnastics lessons to children aged from walking to 15 years in various leisure centres across Leeds. Assist in coaching progressive practices enabling athletes to develop within their chosen activity. Support lesson planning, class registers, monitoring and evaluation, parent/guardian feedback, and record keeping. Ensure safety and control of learners within the sport/physical activity lesson and adhere to relevant regulations. Maintain a fun, safe and consistent sport/physical activity programme for all ages and abilities. Attend, support and assist at required events, competitions and internal festivals. Attend training, meetings, assessments and forums to continually develop teaching practices. Comply with Leeds City Council policies including equal opportunities, safeguarding and health and safety. Participate in appraisal, training and development activities to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and skills. Work collaboratively with colleagues, seeking help and advice when needed. Be aware of and support difference and ensure equality for all working in an anti‑discriminatory manner. Recognise and appropriately challenge any incidents of racism, bullying, harassment or victimisation. Work within Leeds City Council values, codes of conduct and the Active Leeds service values. Qualifications Minimum Level 1 qualification in Women Artistic or General Gymnastics. Knowledge of health and safety guidelines, child protection and welfare guidelines appropriate to your activity. Some experience of coaching sport/physical activity to children and adults. Experience of using IT applications. Able to communicate effectively with children and adults. Adaptable and flexible, able to work flexibly as part of a team. Excellent organisational and customer care skills. Committed to continuous improvement and personal development.
