Contract Manager Base Location: Reading / Thames Valley / Wiltshire / Hampshire Salary: Competitive dependant on experience + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. Working Pattern: Fixed Term Contract - 18 months | Full Time | Flexible First options available The role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the SSEN Large Capital Delivery Directorate. The role reports to the Procurement & Commercial Manager and involves pre and post contract procurement and commercial support across complex large capital projects. You will: Manage the tender process for projects from issue of invitation to tender through to contract award and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase, including management of commercial staff. Procure essential work scopes at lowest cost of ownership and in accordance with the principle of efficiency and best value, covering all commercial, business and legal project risks in contracts. Negotiate terms and conditions within your area of responsibility to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of the contract. Support cost estimating and forecasting to required standard and accuracy. Provide robust post contract commercial management services. Deliver a world-class procurement and commercial service to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with internal controls in line with capital project governance and commercial manuals. You will have: A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification with demonstrable experience of managing contracts on large capital or programmes of work. Knowledge of the Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 and Procurement Act 2023. Experience of commercial governance arrangements for large capital projects, along with contract, cost and budget management. Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management and contract administration. Experience drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, familiarity with Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements, and experience with NEC Contracts.
