Fairfield General Hospital Stroke Service provides hyperacute/acute and rehabilitation to a catchment population of c700,00 and performs in the top 10% of centres according to SSNAP. You would be joining a team of 7 other consultants supported by a team of speciality doctors, middle grades and juniors. Fairfield Hospital is located approximately 10 miles from Manchester City Centre. The stroke service is part of the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. If you would like to know more or would like to visit, please contact us. Main duties of the job Provide in‑patient and outpatient stroke care whilst exercising considerable autonomy, while remaining responsible to the clinical lead and responsive to the varying needs of the department and its staff. Contribute to the provision of acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis and other specialist treatments. Provide ongoing clinical support to the community stroke services within the Northern Care Alliance. You can also read more information about working at the Northern Care Alliance within the attached Candidate Information Pack or by visiting our careers website: https://careers.northerncarealliance.nhs.uk/ Person Specification Professional Registration Full Registration with the General Medical Council Experience Must have experience in working within stroke services Must be qualified to consultant level Experience of teaching and training medical undergraduates, postgraduates and other health professionals Extensive knowledge of Stroke Medicine, including other medical specialities Clear evidence of organisational and Leadership skills Clinical Governance understanding Good Practice in Research training within last 2 years Qualifications Primary medical qualification (eg. MBChB) MRCP (UK) or equivalent Certificate of completion of specialist training (CCT) or equivalent in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric medicine, Neurology or Stroke medicine (or entry expected within six months of interview date). Attendance at a Deanery Teaching the Teachers or similar training in education Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
