ERM is now expanding its award‑winning Infrastructure M&A service line and is recruiting a Managing Consultant. Role Profile Working with Partners, Directors, and peers across the Climate, Sustainability and Transactions and Low‑Carbon Solutions teams, you will provide transaction advisory services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators. You will collaborate with infrastructure funds, private equity firms, investment banks, and energy companies to deliver technical due diligence services on buy‑side, sell‑side and project financing deals. You should have experience in the infrastructure and/or energy sectors, ideally supporting transaction due diligence assignments that capture technical, commercial, and economic drivers of infrastructure private finance deals. This role requires a commercial mindset, strong consulting and business‑development skills, a solid technical foundation, and a track record of leading high‑performing teams to deliver world‑class services. Primary Responsibilities Prepare proposals, including company profile, scope of work, scheduling, and commercial terms. Lead or assist on projects that provide technical, operational, and business‑plan evaluations of proposed infrastructure investments. Coordinate project deliverables such as Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings, and report delivery. Collaborate with internal technical communities and subcontracted SMEs for project delivery and client interaction. Contribute to internal development projects to improve the infrastructure M&A service line. Required Competencies and Critical Success Factors Solid academic background in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.) or a technical bias. Significant technical consulting and / or engineering experience in the energy / infrastructure sectors. Strong technical skills to identify risks and opportunities in technical documentation, site visits, and discussions (asset integrity, performance, management systems, business plans). Excellent organisational skills, self‑motivation, and ability to work in a fast‑turnaround team environment. Ability to maintain high‑quality standards and deliver superior work. Advanced report‑writing skills. Client‑facing experience. Project management across multiple workstreams and deliverables. Desirable Previous technical due diligence experience. Engineering Chartership (or working toward). Corporate finance qualification or interest in economics and finance. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site visits. Experience managing external client projects. Additional language proficiencies. Experience in bioenergy, waste & circularity, power, heat & water, fuels & chemicals, low‑carbon fleets & transport, buildings & civil infrastructure, digital infrastructure, or maritime. Experience managing Capex and Opex for development projects or operating assets.
