This is a post of strategic significance for our business and represents a challenging opportunity to identify, win and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs to a range of energy projects for a wide client base. Our current project portfolio includes some of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects at the heart of helping the UK to meet its commitments to Net Zero. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management across the project lifecycle.Join a great organisationAs one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP works on a range of projects from small developments across sectors to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees and manages the environmental inputs to these schemes, with involvement through their lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesLead and direct environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors.Influence and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects, including tasks related to recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery and financial management.Play a key role in expanding and diversifying our offer in the water sector, working with sector leads and client account managers to provide thought leadership and win new business.Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.Work with colleagues, environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial and health and safety performance.Build client relationships and identify opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.Develop new client relationships and market services, including delivering presentations at conferences on behalf of WSP.Contribute to development of innovative techniques (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA) and lead on delivering those innovations.Contribute to business development activities, including proposals for complex opportunities and framework opportunities.Lead and contribute to the development of environmental processes and practices within the firm.Promote and support a culture of inclusion, health and safety, and values alignment across teams.What We Will Be Looking For You To DemonstrateRelevant environmental or planning degree or equivalent experience.Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes.Familiarity with other consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI assessments.Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.Proven line management experience.Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams.Evidence of successfully driving business growth.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.About Us and What’s In It For YouWe are one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms with a global team dedicated to positive, long-lasting impacts through innovation, integrity and inclusion.
