Job Description Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can. Large Slaughterhouses and Animal By-products installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We’ve established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK. The regime will use the BAT concept principles of a transparent, collaborative, data and evidence led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process will be the UK BAT Author. Key Responsibilities Draft BAT Conclusions. Liaise with Technical Working Groups. Present a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK-wide, environmental standard for industry. Critically analyse technical arguments and data. Write technical documents. Manage projects and drive completion. Support inclusive incident management objectives and training. Travel and overnight stays may be required. Qualifications and Experience At least 5 years working experience in environmental regulation and the SA industry. Specialist knowledge of the slaughterhouse and animal by-products industry. Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues. Strong grasp of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations. Capability in collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience building and maintaining relationships. Planning, prioritising and organising tasks to achieve timely results. Adaptability to challenges and building consensus. Cultural awareness and commitment to diversity. Employment Details Salary: £45,245 – £51,785 (UK) Location: Pickering, England, United Kingdom Contract up to 2 years from appointment. Full-time, Mid-senior level.
