Full‑time Study Skills Lecturer – Location: Birmingham (On‑site). Salary: £51,000. Contract: Full‑time, Permanent (40 hrs/week). Departments: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships. Responsibilities Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans, and individual schemes of work to develop study skills across curricula. Deliver, evaluate, and improve teaching as part of GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy. Provide feedback on academic writing and other study skills to support individual and group progress. Conduct tutorial consultations, assess work against assessment criteria, and suggest improvements. Record details from appointments for evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate. Engage with VLE and research resources to facilitate student learning via online activities. Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes. Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable). Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area. Successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes. Proven experience providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs. Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, dissertation support, peer‑assisted learning). High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills. Desirable Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design, and curriculum development. DELTA qualification. Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or commitment to enrol in a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years, or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
