HR Business Partner (Maternity cover) Hull Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. This is maternity cover from 5th January 2026 to 18th December 2026. Salary: £37,016 FTE per annum Annual Leave: 31 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period) As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will work strategically with college leadership to align HR initiatives with business objectives. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, supporting organisational change, workforce planning, and strategic HR projects to enhance overall college performance. Responsibilities of our HR Business Partner Partner with senior leaders and managers to provide strategic HR guidance, advice and support. Lead on workforce planning, talent management and succession planning. Manage complex employee relations cases, ensuring risk mitigation and legal compliance. Drive organisational change initiatives, including restructuring and TUPE processes. Develop and implement HR strategies that support the college’s objectives. Analyse HR data to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Oversee and enhance staff engagement, wellbeing, and performance management initiatives. Oversee the temporary appointment of agency staff booked by advisors on a short term basis and ensures appropriate authorisation has been received. Work closely with the Learning & Development team to identify training needs and leadership development opportunities. Ensure the college remains compliant with employment law, FE sector regulations, and best practices. Also to remain up to date with current legislation and contribute to communication and implementation of change resulting from legislative changes. Lead on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives to foster an inclusive working environment. Provides support and guidance to HR Advisors and encourages appropriate development opportunity. Lead in the timely monthly completion of payroll including ensuring accuracy of personnel records and that all relevant changes are completed. Contribute to HR policy development and ensure policies are implemented effectively. What we’re looking for in our HR Business Partner Generalist HR experience, with a strong understanding of various HR functions. CIPD level 7 qualification, or willing to work towards it. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Strong organisational skills with a high level of resilience and diligence. Strong strategic HR knowledge and experience of partnering with senior leadership. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
