Non-Contentious Construction Associate to Managing Associate – Bristol, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield or Manchester Freeths – Manchester, England, United Kingdom About The Team The Freeths national Construction & Engineering team covers all aspects of the built environment and process plant, from infrastructure to commercial and residential buildings, offices, retail, logistics and production facilities. We are a team of 28 construction and engineering law specialists who handle both front‑end drafting, negotiation and dispute resolution. About The Role The team is in expansion mode and seeks a Non‑Contentious Construction lawyer to work from any of our regional offices, with a particular focus on Bristol, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester. The role involves drafting and amending building & engineering contracts (JCT, NEC, institutional, MF/1), advising on consultant appointments, warranties, bonds, guarantees, development & funding agreements, lease agreements, novation and ancillary project documentation. Applicants should have recognised construction team experience, ideally 2‑10 years PQE but experience of non‑contentious or mixed work is welcomed. Key Responsibilities Provide an exemplary level of client service and care at consistently high quality. Manage financial and commercial aspects accurately, including time recording, billing, target achievement and WIP management. Actively contribute to business development, retaining existing clients and expanding business. Maintain up‑to‑date technical expertise. Accountable for personal development, continuously developing interpersonal and soft skills. Adhere to SRA competence standards at all times. Carry out any other reasonable tasks required from time to time. Your Skills And Qualifications Directly relevant previous experience with the correct level of post‑qualified experience (PQE) for the role. Strong commercial acumen, understanding of client industry and business. Proven track record of competent financial management, meeting client expectations and sound case management skills. Good IT skills: confident using case management systems, electronic time recording and general Microsoft packages. Self‑starting, friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
