Publishing Operations Editor (Books) Department: Content Solutions | Location: Remote first, UK | Compensation: £31,000‑£33,000 per annum | Employment type: Full‑time | Seniority level: Entry level About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Publishing Operations Editor to join our Content Solutions team where you will manage a portfolio of works end‑to‑end, from facilitating editorial onboarding of new titles to final publication. You will ensure books are delivered on time, meet quality standards, deliver excellent customer service, and control costs. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include supporting authors, book editors, and offshore supplier partners through onboarding, troubleshooting system day‑to‑day issues, writing synopsis copy, and liaising with designers on cover designs. In production you will continue to liaise with authors, own the book’s schedule, and resolve unexpected delays. This role is ideal for an outcome‑oriented individual eager to publish real‑world impact research. Key responsibilities Support and manage relationships with external book vendor teams to coordinate production of titles. Write synopsis copy and liaise with designers on cover designs. Ensure timely announcement of titles to market using BooksoniX data management and keep records up to date throughout the process. Act as liaison between book commissioning and marketing teams, reporting on portfolio performance and escalating issues. Liaise with Research Integrity and Legal departments when required. Qualifications Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain relationships with offshore vendors, and manage conflict resolution. Strong organisational, administrative, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Continuous improvement mindset. Understanding of the changing landscape of academic publishing and the production environment. Keen interest to actively participate or lead projects supporting Emerald’s mission.
