With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.RoleAs a Consultant Ecologist, you will join a team of over 50 ecologists with more than 30 years of experience undertaking ecological surveys and assessments, as well as providing advice on soil, land use, hydrological and sustainable drainage issues, arboriculture, ecosystem service, natural capital assessment, biodiversity strategies and metrics, and cultural heritage. We have undertaken over 2,000 projects across the UK, Europe and beyond for public and private clients. Your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, and you may work in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.Role accountabilitiesCoordinate and complete assigned tasks and projects within the Business Unit or project team.Engage on an extensive portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects, including standalone ecology projects and work for internal clients.Gain experience on a wide and varied portfolio of projects to enhance skills and test technical knowledge.Receive personal development opportunities and mentorship from industry-recognised Technical Leaders to support career progression.ResponsibilitiesUndertake and assist on ecological surveys.Undertake the production of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and assist with biodiversity strategies and other documents.Undertake and assist with licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring.Undertake/supervise mitigation and monitoring of licensed work and liaise with statutory authorities.Participate in training with respect to best practice and survey standards, as appropriate.Qualifications & ExperienceExperience in writing PEAs and contributing to scoping and baseline sections of EIAs and biodiversity net gain reports.Understanding of and application of environmental legislation, policy and guidance.Ability to identify a range of commonly found taxa/species using keys and field identification guides.Ability to undertake extended Phase 1 habitat surveys.Ideally hold a survey licence for one or more species.Adherence to biosecurity and health and safety protocols.You will hold a relevant degree, ideally a secondary degree or accreditation.Be a member of CIEEM at the appropriate level.Excellent communicator with the ability to travel when necessary.Why Arcadis?We empower everyone to be their best and pursue a skills-based approach, allowing you to harness your unique experience to shape your career path and maximize impact.
