Grade D - £45,091 - £51,356 Permanent Working 36.5 hours per week Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review An exciting opportunity to be part of a national enforcement agency has arisen within Birmingham City Council's Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT). As part of the council's Trading Standards Department, IMLT investigates unlicensed money lenders (loan sharks). Administered in Birmingham, the team operates on an agile and flexible basis across the UK and is funded by Central Government. The team works closely with other Local Authorities, the Police, and other agencies. The IMLT has two enforcement teams and an intelligence department made up of specialist investigators. The post of Investigator will sit within one of the enforcement teams. Due to the nature of this role, working outside of regular hours and travel across the UK will be required, involving overnight accommodation as required. What You’ll Do Carry out complex criminal investigations and enforce delegated legislation Have ownership of an individual case load and work alongside other Investigators to conduct enforcement action About You You will have a full driving licence. Conducting complex investigations in specialist areas of criminal investigations Interviewing suspects in accordance with PACE Giving evidence in Court Writing statements and reports to a high standard Working within a fast‑paced environment Operating for periods of time with minimal supervision A positive approach to problem solving with sound decision making For any informal enquiries please contact: Resourcing@birmingham.gov.uk To Apply Upload an up‑to‑date CV and Personal Statement via the attachments part of your application.
