Job Overview Milton Keynes, Talking Therapies Service is looking for an Assistant Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join its Step 2 team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Qualified PWP’s in conducting groups and workshops while promoting the psychological health and wellbeing of our clients. Milton Keynes Talking Therapies Service has been providing support to the residents of Milton Keynes since 2009. We are a well-established and successful service that is currently expanding to meet the increasing needs of the local community. Our team consists of diverse and dynamic psychological professionals and support staff. We are responsible for providing low and high-intensity, evidence-based interventions in accordance with the stepped care model. Main duties of the job To support with the delivery of psychoeducational groups to patients under the direction and guidance of Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and supervisors. To support Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners with general administration tasks and patient‑related administration, and to assist with planning and organization of psycho‑educational groups and any administration linked to courses. Assist in the screening and processing of new referrals to the service, including making pathway confirmation calls following the direction of qualified staff. To undertake research and development activities under the guidance of the head of service. To undertake continuing professional development and personal clinical supervision. The role may require the candidate to be available for occasional weekend or evening working. Under the direction and guidance of senior staff, develop initiatives around self‑help and community engagement, including supporting the role of volunteer or helper. Opportunity to work as a champion within the service within a particular specialty (e.g., LGBTQ+, Wellbeing, Young People champion, etc.). Attend all supervision as relevant to the role, including clinical skills supervision, one‑to‑one line management, and case management supervision. To undertake any training that might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise. To compile and return statistics and activity levels as appropriate. To participate in audit and personal review activity as required. The job description does not form part of the Contract of Employment Person specification Education Essential criteria Evidence of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problem Desirable criteria A degree in Psychology A postgraduate qualification in psychology Experience Essential criteria A demonstratable understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care Ability to manage own caseload and time effectively Desirable criteria Experience working in a target‑driven service demonstrating clinical outcomes Skills/Abilities Essential criteria High‑level communication skills (written and verbal), including an ability to communicate and work in settings with a highly emotive atmosphere. An ability to interact with people with mental health problems/ mild learning disabilities An understanding of psychology applied to healthcare Advanced keyboard skills. Desirable criteria Experience using IAPTUS and databases or data‑analysis. Other Essential criteria High level of enthusiasm and motivation.
