Glasgow, United Kingdom Booth Welsh Ltd Full time

Booth Welsh are working with one of the UKs fastest growing defence companies - and we’re supporting them in hiring skilled CNC Machinists with solid 5-axis milling experience to strengthen their machining team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex machining challenges, values accuracy, and wants to work in a modern facility producing high-quality components for demanding industries.

What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day

In this role, you’ll be trusted to take components from drawing to finished part, using advanced 5-axis milling capabilities. Expect to:

Prepare, programme and run 5-axis milling machines to deliver precision components.
Work directly from engineering drawings to ensure parts are produced exactly to specification.
Keep a close eye on machine performance, adjusting settings where necessary to maintain output quality.
Carry out routine machine care and housekeeping to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Inspect your own work and verify that every component meets the required tolerances.
Solve minor machining issues quickly and safely to keep downtime low.
Work closely with engineering and production colleagues to fine-tune processes and improve efficiency.
Maintain safe working practices and contribute to a tidy, organised environment.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

We’re looking for experienced CNC Machinists with a background in 5-axis milling who can demonstrate:

Previous work on high-precision components.
Ability to set, operate, and programme milling machinery confidently.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and part specifications.
Solid knowledge of machine maintenance and preventative checks.
Dexterity and skill in using a range of hand tools.
Awareness of lean principles or 5S (advantageous, not essential).
Familiarity with specific machine control systems or editing programmes is highly desirable.

You’ll succeed here if you take pride in your workmanship, communicate well, and enjoy being part of a team that constantly looks for ways to improve.

What You’ll Get in Return

A full-time, permanent position
37-hour working week across a Monday–Friday 3-shift rotation
Competitive base rate plus shift allowance
Pension, life insurance, private medical cover, eyewear protection and retail discounts
33 days annual leave with a Christmas shutdown
Plenty of opportunities to build your skills, grow within the team, and work alongside experienced CNC specialists
A supportive environment where quality and continuous improvement genuinely matter

If you’re ready for a new challenge with a company investing in its people and technology, we’d love to hear from you
