Job Summary Public Health Wales Microbiology operates as a network of laboratories with regional laboratories across Wales. As a Biomedical Scientist at Singleton Hospital you will perform a wide range of techniques relating to the diagnosis of infectious disease. The post holder will be expected to participate in unsocial hours working (weekend/Bank Holiday/overnight) as per published roster. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values equality, diversity and inclusion. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of techniques relating to the diagnosis of infectious disease. Rotate through sections gaining experience in methodologies including molecular science and microbiological diagnostic testing. Participate in unsocial hours working (weekend/Bank Holiday/overnight) as per published roster. Qualifications Registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) OR IBMS accredited Biomedical Sciences Degree (or equivalent) and provide detail of suitability for IBMS Certificate of Competence. Experience of working in a laboratory accredited by UKAS to ISO 15189 standard. Knowledge of good laboratory practice and ISO 15189 quality management. Skills and Attributes Ability to work as part of a team and participate in training of other staff. Able to identify and deal with problems in a calm and efficient manner. Ability to work reliably and efficiently under own initiative.
