ASA are seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to provide strategic financial support to one of their largescale public sector clients. This is a key interim role, working closely with Directors and senior management teams to drive financial performance, deliver robust financial planning, and provide strategic insights across business-as-usual and project activities.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a difference within a high-profile public sector organisation, supporting operational delivery and contributing to the organisations wider corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the directorate's financial management processes, ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of monthly forecasts, variances, and annual financial plans.
- Provide expert financial guidance and challenge to Directors and budget holders, ensuring informed decision-making and strong financial governance.
- Manage and oversee month-end and year-end accounting processes including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and reporting for inclusion in the Annual Report & Accounts.
- Support annual financial planning exercises, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and delivery plans.
- Contribute to the development of business cases and monitor financial aspects of projects and programmes.
- Develop financial capability across the organisation, training non-finance staff on finance processes, policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and oversight to junior finance staff, supporting their development.
Skills & Experience Required:
- CCAB-qualified accountant (or finalist).
- Proven experience in financial control, budget setting, forecasting, and variance analysis within a complex organisation.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills with experience producing reports and briefings for senior stakeholders.
