Job OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the benign urology nursing team.
The successful applicant will be part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team working closely with the Urology Consultants, junior doctors and other nurse specialists within the department.
The successful applicant will be expected to play an active part in supporting and delivering high quality of care to patients with benign urological conditions.
The post-holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the assessment, primary and/or secondary diagnosis, management, and evaluation of treatment/ and/or care for a caseload of patients.
The postholder will have responsibility for providing specialist advice and management for individuals with bladder dysfunction. This will be by direct patient care, providing advice and education to patients as well as advice for carers and healthcare personnel.
The post holder will influence the positive experience of patients and carers living with urological disease by working with the multi disciplinary team across the Trust and acting as the patients key worker.
The post holder will promote safe, competent and evidence-based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will therefore need experience in urological nursing and to acquire substantial knowledge of the subject and will be fully supported to achieve this.
We will provide you with development opportunities and support you within your new role.
The post-holder will work as an independent practitioner and with members of the multidisciplinary team, provide advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on all benign urological conditions, across both secondary and primary care.
The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service development to ensure patients have a seamless pathway. Promoting a safe, competent and evidence-based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework.

Person specificationQualifications:Essential criteria- Minimum 3 year post registration experience in managing patients with urological problems
- Experience of collaborating within a multi professional team
- Performing Benign Urology Clinics
- Experience of running nurse-led clinics
- Basic IT Skills
- Advanced Communication Skills
- Ability to work alone and under pressure
- Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and in terms of administration
- Presentation skills
- Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge base in benign urology conditions
- Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff
- Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality
- Has understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding
- Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance
