Software Engineer – Front end

Job Description We are looking for a Software Engineer – Front end to join Aberdeen’s Investment Analytics squad. Aberdeen is a leading wealth and investment group based in Edinburgh. The role will focus on delivering high‑quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions that support portfolio management, data analysis, and regulatory reporting. About the Department The squad is part of an Agile, cross‑functional team that builds a modern, full‑stack platform comprising a Typescript (Angular) web UI, C# (ASP.NET Core) REST APIs, Kubernetes in Azure, SQL and other persistence layers, and a library of financial modelling modules written in Python and C#. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain high‑quality software solutions across the technology stack. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and other engineers to understand requirements and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions. Promote and implement engineering best practices, including automated testing, continuous integration/deployment and coding standards. Participate in code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing. Explore and apply AI‑assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering efficiency. Follow Agile principles to continuously deliver value and drive improvement in tools and processes. About the Candidate Experience delivering high‑quality, cloud‑native software solutions with an interest in Asset Management or Finance Technology. Proficiency in Angular (NgRx experience desired), Python, and at least one other web application framework. Familiarity with REST APIs design, development and testing. Some expertise in an object‑oriented programming language (C# preferred). Solid understanding of good software development principles. Experience with DevOps tooling, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Test‑Driven Development. Flexibility across technologies and a drive to learn about the business and future technology.
