This is a senior leadership post, responsible for leading the Children in Care team and ensuring we meet our contractual and statutory responsibilities to Children in Care across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire. Working closely with safeguarding colleagues and a range of partner agencies, you will champion best practice, drive high‑quality service delivery, and ensure that Children in Care receive coordinated, compassionate and effective health support. HCRG Care Group is committed to delivering outstanding services for children, young people and families. As our Named Nurse for Children in Care, you will play a crucial role in shaping provision, influencing practice, and ensuring that every child in care receives the high‑quality support they deserve. Part‑time role, 30 hours per week. Responsibilities At all times, work as a member of the Children in Care team, local safeguarding teams, the wider HCRG Care Group safeguarding and Children in Care sub‑committee and the Strive for Better safeguarding and Children in Care operational group. Develop programmes and pathways that support the team to deliver their contractual obligations and to optimise health outcomes for Children in Care, contributing to the development of wider organisational Children in Care policies, processes and procedures. Be trauma‑aware and understand the principles of a trauma‑informed approach to care and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on children and adults. Advise local police, children’s social care and other statutory and voluntary agencies on health matters regarding Children in care. Liaise closely with specialist services such as CAMHS, sexual health and services for disabled children. Support and advise HCRG Care Group colleagues within services in their responsibility to Children in care through HCRG’s clinical governance processes. Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of provider services for Children in care. When required, undertake health assessments for Children in care and provide written reports on the health of prospective carers as appropriate. Support and advise colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children, whilst being clear about others’ personal clinical professional accountability. Provide advice and signposting to other professionals about legal processes, key research and policy documents. About the Company We change lives by transforming health and care.
