Head of English – Shaftesbury Full‑Time | Start Date: Jan 2026 A secondary school in Shaftesbury is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of English to lead their provision and support students for whom English is not their first language. This is a full‑time position starting as soon as possible. Responsibilities Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and support for students across the school Develop strategies to help students access the curriculum and achieve their full potential Support and train staff in delivering inclusive teaching practices Monitor student progress and adapt provision to meet individual needs Work closely with families, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure effective communication and support Benefits A diverse and inclusive environment where every student is valued A committed and collaborative staff team Strong leadership support and opportunities for professional development Well‑resourced classrooms and facilities to deliver high-quality learning This role would suit an experienced teacher or leader with a strong background in EAL who is ready to take the next step in their career.
