Purpose of the Role The Bid Writer role sits within the Colas Asset & Maintenance Solutions bid team, producing high‑quality, professionally written content for prequalification and tender submissions. This role offers hybrid working, with two days per week based in any of the following offices: Chester, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Warrington, or London. Main Responsibilities Work with the Proposals Manager to maintain and improve bid‑management processes and challenge existing practices. Use bid‑writing resources to develop and complete written responses, contributing to win themes and bidding strategies through client research, document reviews, and liaison with regional teams. Deliver written responses for prequalification and tender submissions to consistently high and compliant standards. Participate in peer review responses, storyboarding sessions, bid solution meetings, and assist with the preparation of presentations to the client. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will hold a full driving licence and possess a degree or equivalent, preferably in English, Journalism, or Humanities. They will also be experienced in producing and editing written content for prequalification and tender submissions within the construction, civil engineering sectors, or related industries.
