Senior Engineering Project Manager, UK Field Engineering Team

Position OverviewAmazon Logistics is experiencing unprecedented growth and seeking a dynamic Project Manager to lead mission‑critical engineering and facilities initiatives across our rapidly expanding network. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to drive large‑scale transformation projects from conception through completion, including new site launches, facility optimizations, and strategic infrastructure developments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in UK regulatory compliance and statutory requirements while continuously elevating our operational standards. This position requires a strategic mindset to enhance existing processes, coupled with hands‑on project execution capabilities. The successful candidate will own and deliver network‑wide initiatives that directly impact our ability to serve customers and support Amazon’s continued growth in the UK market.ResponsibilitiesMultiple locations available across Midlands, Manchester, and London delivery station network, lead and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for Amazon Logistical network, including equipment specifications and Fulfillment Centre (FC) layouts.Capital project management, including preparation of conceptual designs, equipment specifications, and bid documentation to support competitive tendering process.Provide frequent on‑site monitoring and enforcement of installation schedules and vendor quality with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) vendors/subcontractors.Inspect prospective and completed facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures, ensuring proper follow‑up on snagging lists and warranty work.Lead and coordinate between internal departments and MHE vendors for multiple installation sites.Develop and manage budget and contract documents including RFPs, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing.Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper operator training, procedural compliance, maintenance practices are followed for new and existing MHE.Create, submit and track relevant CAPEX documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.Work closely with UK Real Estate, IT and Process teams along with the Software and Operations Integration teams to ensure on‑time project delivery.Understand the operational process in detail, including all relevant Warehouse Management System (WMS) tools used on a daily basis.QualificationsExperience working with designs of complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies and systems including robotics and high‑speed manufacturing.Experience in technical leadership of development, testing and implementation of large‑scale, complex technology projects.Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation and logistics, or fulfillment and distribution centres.Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD and commercial off‑the‑shelf technologies such as Tableau, SQL, or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsExperience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑tech company, or experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines.Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.Experience in end‑to‑end project management, including strategic planning and execution.Expertise in complex MHE operations and packaging lines or process design utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.Ability to drive business impact through data‑driven analysis and financial modelling, resulting in quantifiable improvements (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).Hands‑on technical expertise in security engineering.Experience managing cross‑functional projects in a fast‑paced environment.Equal Opportunity StatementAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
