Water Technician

Summary Make a big impact on our network’s performance while working a defined night shift pattern (10pm‑8am, 4 on 4 off) and gain a formal qualification. In this hands‑on role you’ll learn to use advanced equipment to perform planned leakage detection and locate hidden leaks, minimise water loss and support the team during incidents that interrupt customers’ water supply. Key Responsibilities Investigate and locate hidden leaks using specialised equipment such as correlators and techniques like step testing. Execute planned leakage detection, validation and survey work to achieve and maintain leakage‑reduction goals. Perform essential network activities such as mains shutdowns, risk assessments and interruption reports. Maintain and repair network leakage assets including pressure‑reducing valves, district meters and data‑logging equipment. Handle customer complaints or queries effectively. Conduct network validation, pressure‑zonal tests and flow tests to ensure the integrity of District‑Metered Areas (DMAs). Accurately collect, record and correct network asset data using Maximo, GIS and other work‑management systems. Coordinate with internal staff (Distribution, Leakage, Production) on night team activities and leak repairs. Conduct flushing activity and perform water sampling in line with regulatory guidelines. Qualifications and Experience Full, clean manual driving licence. Good standard of secondary education with strong numeracy and literacy skills. Strong customer‑service skills. Proficiency in accessing, data entry and understanding of work‑management systems such as GIS. Experience in customer‑service queries and complaints handling. Ability to work effectively alone with minimal supervision at night, often outdoors in all weather conditions. Experience with pressure‑zonal tests, flow tests and the use of leakage‑detection equipment. Assistance with water sampling and flushing activity according to regulatory guidance. Interview Process Assessment/interview days will be scheduled between 09:00hrs and 14:00hrs from 25 November to early December.
