Menzies Distribution are currently looking for a Transport Manager to join our busy team based in Scunthorpe. We’re looking for someone smart, experienced in people management, and able to blend into a small ‘in‑plant’ team to successfully manage the operation of the contract. Details Salary: £50,000 – £60,000, depending on experience Working Days: Monday to Friday Hours: 07:30 – 17:30 Hours per Week: 40 Parking: Free parking onsite Pay: Monthly Key Duties and Accountabilities Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing operational needs, providing adequate cover at a planning level. Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources. Administer customer requirements in a timely, controlled and recorded manner. Consider operational movements within the Menzies network to reduce empty running and improve efficiency. Complete periodic reviews of the delivery schedule in line with customer strategic changes. Maintain fleet assets, ensuring MOTs and all paperwork are up to date. Analyse data to monitor performance and plan improvements. Promote standards of work to comply with UK/EU laws, regulations and Health & Safety legislation. Ensure all maintenance (tyre checks, servicing, MOT, etc.) complies with the maintenance manual and law. Complete accident reports and update risk assessments, contributing to a positive safety culture. Support personal development of all employees, conduct performance reviews and identify training needs. Create an effective working environment, building a diverse, well‑balanced team. Ensure sub‑contractors and suppliers are authorised and provide cost‑effective operational solutions. Investigate all personal and vehicle accidents in line with company procedures. Recruit, train and retain drivers.
