This rotation will allow you to develop as a band 6 and gain experience in a wide range of areas within a specialist acute hospital setting. This allows for the development of general skills which may support later application to one of our specialist band 6 rotations in MSK, neuro-rehab or respiratory. The department is friendly and dedicated towards the delivery of an excellent service for all our users, as well as constantly looking at better ways to provide a service. Main duties of the job To participate in the Band 6 rotational scheme which involves working for seven monthly rotations across the trust in a range of ward settings and outpatient settings. To provide a high standard of physiotherapy in a variety of areas: medical wards, surgical wards and ICU, care of the elderly wards, stroke and neurological and rehabilitation wards, neurosciences critical care unit and wards, paediatric wards, orthopaedic wards, musculoskeletal outpatients and community rehabilitation. To develop skills in prioritisation, audit and management. Person specification Qualifications Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy HCPC registration Evidence of relevant post-graduate education / CPD activities Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Evidence of relevant post graduate training Experience Experience of reviewing and applying evidence based practice Relevant clinical work at Band 5 level in a range of specialities including Respiratory / Critical Care, Elderly Care and neurological conditions Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Competency to participate in weekend work including the ability to provide respiratory care to self-ventilating patients Postgraduate NHS Physiotherapy experience at Band 5 level Band 6 experience Experience of audit / research projectsExperience of Critical Care including artificial airways and the ability to cover respiratory on call Experience in mentoring students Experience of deputising for Band 6/7 Knowledge Competent in using a range of manual handling techniques and equipment Knowledge and experience of discharge planning Knowledge of National guidelines to deliver and evaluate service Skills Ability to clinically reason the application of appropriate assessment and treatment techniques in a variety of clinical settings Ability to use professional communication strategies with patients, carers and members of the MDT and ability to modify appropriately Excellent inter-personal skills Evidence of self-directed learning Ability to work independently and manage own caseload Demonstrate ability to teach, guide and direct Therapy Assistants and students in clinical practice Ability to demonstrate good organisational skills Ability to prioritise clinical caseload Administrative and computer skills Evidence of presentation skills Evidence of participation in research / audit Clinical Educator training Evidence of appraisal skills Employer certification / accreditation badges You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
