Volunteer to Career Ward Clerk Support, Willow A & B Cumberland Infirmary Willow A ward is a 43 bedded inpatient renal/haematology/medical ward based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Patients are admitted directly through the renal or haematology service, Acute Medical Unit or ITU/HDU. Would you like a career in administration within NHS? The Volunteer to Career Programme enables you to complete essential mandatory training and a requirement to also complete 60 hours (approx. 4 hours per week) in Wards Willow A & B at the Cumberland Infirmary. On successful completion of this programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank register as a Casual Admin Officer. What is the Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme? The programme provides volunteers with training and support to transition into a career within the NHS. It allows individuals to gain valuable experience and essential transferable skills. The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is therefore only open to applicants who reside in the Cumberland Council boundary. Who is eligible to apply for the VtC programme? The VtC programme is open to anyone who is interested in a career within the NHS. Volunteers who would like to volunteer in our administration offices should be able to commit for at least 60 hours for a minimum of 5 months, be over 18 years old, have the right to work in the UK, and be ready to go through recruitment checks and training requirements. Supporting the Ward Clerk with general administration, which may include: Answering telephone enquiries (internal and external) and taking messages Welcoming visitors and helping with general enquiries Photocopying and scanning Liaising with departments/staff/other organisations Helping staff and visitors access appropriate resources within the department Going To Collect Items From Other Departments When Required. Other administrative tasks relevant to the individual department following instruction/training.
