We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Transport Planner to join our busy Transport Planning team in Cambridge on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone with a broad understanding of transport planning, particularly in development planning, and an interest in supporting public sector schemes. Our Cambridge office is located in the vibrant heart of the city. A short walk from the historic University of Cambridge and the bustling city centre, it offers excellent access to the River Cam, local parks, and the renowned Botanic Gardens. With direct connections to London, it's perfectly situated for convenient travel and collaboration with colleagues and clients. We work with outstanding clients on some of the region's most exciting projects. Our team has contributed to a range of high‑profile schemes, including the North West Cambridge Development (Eddington), Addenbrooke's Hospital Biomedical Campus, Waterbeach Barracks and Airfield, Tendring and Colchester Borders Garden Community, and Alconbury Weald. About the role You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects—from large, strategic land development proposals to smaller sites, as well as strategic infrastructure and public sector commissions. This role offers an excellent platform to develop your transport planning skills within a wider multidisciplinary environment. Day‑to‑day responsibilities Support the technical delivery of transportation projects Prepare Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and a range of transport studies Undertake associated technical and analytical work Collaborate with clients, design teams, local authorities and the public Support and mentor junior team members Qualifications and Experience Degree qualified in transportation, geography, engineering, or a related discipline Understanding of the planning system with experience in Transport Assessments, Travel Planning, junction modelling/analysis and relevant software packages Strong numerical skills with experience managing budget and quality at project level Ideally working towards a professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Transport Planning Professional) People Culture A friendly, supportive and collaborative team.
