Job Summary The post holder will be responsible for undertaking clinical/administrative duties relating to immunisation, primarily delivered on site for primary and secondary children in schools and in community clinic settings across Suffolk. Main duties include vaccinating 20 to 25 school children per hour (Flu season), working collaboratively to support the team, promoting and supporting the operation of our School Aged Immunisation Service, supporting clinical leads and programme managers, attending sites across different locations as directed, delivering evidence‑based care, participating in clinical supervision, reporting incidents and near‑misses, participating in audits, maintaining accurate record keeping, contributing to team meetings, undertaking Gillick competency assessments, and ensuring all client care is conducted in line with company policy and NHS standards. About Us Vaccination UK has been commissioned by NHS England since 2015 to provide school‑aged immunisations, including influenza, to pupils across numerous counties and boroughs in England. We are also commissioned to provide outbreak response in North London and the infant BCG programme to newborns in North London. Job Details Date posted: 23 October 2025 Pay scheme: Bank Salary: £24 an hour Contract: 2 months duration Working pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time Reference number: E0106-25-0110 Job locations: Covered Ltd, Thurrock Lakeside Shopping Centre, West Thurrock, Grays, Essex, RM20 2ZH Responsibilities Travel to various sites as needed, working within a small team of vaccinators. Administer vaccinations efficiently to meet hourly targets, including IM and nasal vaccinations. Undertake clinical triage of consent forms and contact parents/guardians as required. Address clinical enquiries from parents/guardians and VUK staff within scope of knowledge. Transport vaccines to and from sessions as required. Participate in clinical supervision and contribute to staff performance development. Report, monitor and process all clinical incidents and near miss events in accordance with organisational policies. Ensure safeguarding concerns are promptly reported and followed up. Participate in audits as required by the Clinical Lead. Undertake health promotion activities as required. Conduct Gillick competency assessments and obtain verbal consent from parents and caregivers by phone or in person. Maintain a professional demeanour as the representative of Vaccination UK when attending schools. Perform other duties appropriate to the role. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Skills Effective communication, both written and verbal. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Assertive, team player and critical thinker. Must be able to drive (desirable). Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse, Pharmacist or Allied Healthcare professional actively registered with their governing body: NMC, GPhC, HCPC. Nursing and/or Midwifery Qualification. Desirable Basic Life Support certification. Evidence of signed‑off competencies for relevant vaccinations. Proficiency in administering IM injections. Experience Essential Evidence of ongoing professional development. Understanding of the Routine National Immunisation schedule. Understanding of the principles of informed consent. Computer literate. Understanding the Cold Chain Policy. Desirable Working within PGD frameworks. Other Essential Valid UK Drivers Licence and car. Valid Enhanced DBS. Able to start immediately. Other Desirable Community Nursing experience.
