Overview The Community Payback Supervisor is an operational role that directly supervises work groups of offenders serving a community sentence. The post holder will be responsible for all work‑site supervision tasks and will work with service users to ensure that all tasks are completed to the best of their ability. The role may include driving service vehicles, transporting people or equipment and working alongside volunteers or partner organisations to deliver credible public‑visible punishment and rehabilitation. Responsibilities Conduct Pre‑Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions. Deliver a start‑of‑day ‘tool box’ talk to ensure all service users understand the tasks, safe working practice and to motivate and support them to complete their Order. Follow work directions within the project placement file. Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed, alerting relevant staff to any risk, completing required paperwork and contributing to the review of placement risk assessments. Ensure that appropriate tools, equipment and supplies are available in accordance with local procedure and that instructions for safe use are followed by service users. Conduct a dynamic risk assessment to note and manage all hazards. Use pro‑social and other motivational techniques to ensure service users complete the work assigned in a disciplined and well‑behaved manner. Monitor the attendance of service users allocated to agency placements and promote successful completions. Maintain all service users’ records in accordance with organisational requirements, updating the case management system in a timely and accurate manner. Work toward accreditation as a workplace assessor or deliver training assessments for selected service users within the supervised work group to provide enhanced learning opportunities. Promote Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public. Qualifications and Experience Full UK Manual Driving Licence (Category D1 Minibus) – required. Experience of Practical Skills in supervising or working with offenders. Evidence of commitment to teamwork and effective inter‑personal skills. Demonstrated problem‑solving ability within a workplace or similar environment. Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work. Ability to model pro‑social attitudes and behaviour to service users. Good written communication skills (Communicating and Influencing). Understanding of equality and inclusion and commitment to the CPHS policies and procedures. Technical Requirements Basic knowledge of First Aid and willingness to undertake further training. Willingness to attain IOSH L3 or equivalent and to attend further training. Willingness to achieve and maintain L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent. Working Pattern The role is full‑time (37 hours per week) and runs 7 days a week. The post holder will work frequent weekends and may be asked to cover some evenings. A higher rate of pay is paid for weekend and evening work. The work schedule may also accommodate portion‑time or part‑time variations in some regions.
