Position Senior Systems Engineer Department Systems & Supportability Engineering Location Bristol Description Sagentia Defence provides science and technology consultancy expertise to solve complex challenges faced by mission‑critical defence programmes. Our defence practice partners with national government bodies, international institutions and global prime contractors on developing next‑generation technologies, enterprise transformation, feasibility analysis, system engineering, and programme delivery across maritime, air, land, joint and digital defence projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and refinement of system architectures for defence projects. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure system designs meet UK MoD requirements. Utilise MBSE methodologies and tools to create models, simulations and documentation for requirement analysis, system design and verification. Identify and consult stakeholders to capture user needs and define requirements, measures of effectiveness and performance. Develop, analyse, and manage user and system‑level requirements for MOD projects, ensuring clarity, completeness and alignment with UK MoD specifications. Conduct thorough requirements analysis, traceability and manage documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate closely with UK MoD stakeholders and incorporate feedback into system designs. Present technical information and project updates to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Work with cross‑functional teams to integrate systems of systems and develop integration and interoperability strategies. Oversee integration of subsystems and components into high‑performance systems. Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to validate functionality and performance. Identify and assess risks associated with system integration and implementation. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Ensure all systems comply with relevant regulatory and compliance standards. Stay informed about emerging technologies, evaluate new technologies and assess impact on performance, cost and security. Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design options and test reports. Provide regular status updates and project reports to stakeholders and management. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Experience of requirements management within the UK MOD (Frontline Commands or Delivery Agents). Knowledge of the UK acquisition framework (Business Cases, URD, SRD, CONEMP/CONUSE, ITEAP, etc.). Comprehension of Defence Lines of Development and their impact on requirements. Knowledge of operational environments and challenges (geography, climate, media, information, population, urbanisation, cyber). Experience with DOORS/Dimensions RM software for requirements management. Understanding of modern SE approaches such as MBSE. Application Criteria Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK. Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check before gaining site access. Candidates will also need either a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible for a SC clearance check upon starting employment. To gain SC clearance normally requires at least 5 years of UK residency.
