We're looking for a Cloud Capacity Manager to lead and develop our capacity management capability ensuring Direct Line has the IT capacity to meet current and future business needs. This role covers compute, storage and networks across AWS, Azure and third‑party SaaS. You'll work closely with teams across Service Introduction, Cloud Governance, Cloud FinOps, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering and the wider business making sure our systems are scalable, efficient and aligned with customer and business demands. You'll also take ownership of capacity management controls partnering with the Chief Controls Office to ensure we're operating to the highest standards. What you'll be doing Partner with the Cloud FinOps team to optimise resources and maximise ROI. Identify and deliver workload optimisation (rightsizing) opportunities. Work with business stakeholders to understand future requirements based on strategy, product launches and seasonal trends. Translate business demand forecasts into IT capacity requirements. Collaborate with solution architects to ensure systems are designed with cost‑effective capacity in mind. Produce and maintain high‑quality documentation in a regulated environment (e.g., process design docs, templates, guidelines). Support incident and problem investigations relating to capacity and performance. Deliver regular cloud capacity management reports and plans to stakeholders. Assess Change Requests for performance and capacity impact. Contribute to outcome‑based contracts with third‑party suppliers to ensure future capacity needs are met. Support annual Financial Regulator audits ensuring alignment with capacity management processes. Ensure capacity performance and availability requirements are optimised and cost‑justified. Help define and validate non‑functional requirements (performance scalability) through performance testing. Align with ITIL Service Management architectures, policies and standards. What we’re looking for Deep knowledge of cloud capacity management for AWS and Azure (AWS/Azure associate level certification an advantage). Proficiency in the use of performance and capacity tools including Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor / KQL and AppDynamics APM. Familiarity with the Cloud FinOps framework (FinOps certification an advantage). Hands‑on experience using FinOps tools including IBM Apptio, Cloudability and cloud‑native tools from AWS and Azure. Knowledge of the ITIL framework (certification an advantage). Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Experience with IT Service Management tools including ServiceNow. Experience with business intelligence tools such as Quicksight, Tableau and Power BI. Re‑architecting of applications in the cloud to improve performance, scalability and/or reduce cost. Application performance tuning including Kubernetes, Java. Strong documentation, organisational, communication, influence and leadership skills.
