Clinical Development Fellowships

Duration: 6th August 2025- 4th August 2026

We are offering clinical development fellowships in Trauma & Orthopaedics based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a trauma unit and also provides significant tertiary orthopaedic trauma and elective services. These posts will provide excellent exposure to the whole range of adult orthopaedic practice, with an opportunity for a subspecialised focus in chosen areas. A minimum of 80% of the time will be dedicated to clinical work with plenty of opportunities for audit and research. Trainees will be primarily team-based, working closely with a registrar and a consultant.

These posts are primarily designed to support junior doctors aspiring to start on a specialty training programme. Fellows will work on the rota alongside Core Trainees and will be supported by a clinical supervisor and an educational supervisor.

A brief outline of duties involved is shown below:

  1. Elective & Trauma Theatre duties.
  2. Orthopaedic Clinic & Fracture Clinic duties.
  3. Participation in a rota for first on-call for Trauma (CT/CDF on-call rota) in the hospital during the day and at night.
  4. Daily ward rounds and support to foundation tier doctors.
  5. Participate in the Unit Educational Programme.
  6. Opportunity to participate in Audit and Research.
